Mark, you are absolutely right that we are seeing big rise in traffic pumping fraud. This is being reported by several telecom fraud control organizations. Of course, it affects not just Call Centers but many enterprises with their own IP PBX as well. In some cases, where we were called to help, we have seen $200-300K financial losses just over the weekend! Well executed security audit and hardening using specialized products effectively puts a stop to it. Unfortunately, it is usually called for after the incident. Spreading awareness of the problems is good. Your Blog certainly helps in this regard.

Thanks for the comment Paul. I agree - dial through fraud and IRSF type attacks can definitely affect the IP PBX. We still see it all the time.
