UCSniff seems to be well constructed and the ease of use and installation has indeed earned it a significant amount of praise when compared to experiences with other open-source tools. While others have mentioned that UCSniff is essentially a conglomeration of several previously available open-source chat tools, it is still convenient to have all of them working in harmony without requiring much effort for the user. The ability to record calls between specific endpoints in a switched environment is also a praise worthy feature and while the VLAN capabilities were not tested, the tool’s capabilities that were tested worked well.
